Our Work
White Papers
The world faces a rapidly evolving AI risk landscape, and Canada must step up its game at home and abroad. Since 2023, our Plan for Canada white paper series has provided government with a concise and up to date overview of the risk landscape, along with practical actions to address them. The top recommendation from our 2023 and 2024 papers were adopted.

AI & Data Act Recommendations
AIGS Canada prepared a detailed brief with recommended amendments to the 2022 Bill C-27 AI & Data Act that did not pass, but was studied by the House of Commons Standing committee on Industry and Technology.
Read AIGS's initial written submission on Bill C-27, and our feedback on the Minister's amendments.
Finally, AIGS was also invited to provide oral testimony: see L'Allié's opening statement and the full hearing.
Government submissions
AIGS Canada is regularly invited by federal government agencies to provide expert feedback. This includes participation in ISED's consultation on the Voluntary Code of Conduct, the Treasury Board Secretary's consultation on its AI Strategy for the Public Service. Most recently, we submitted written briefs for the Compute Access Fund allocation (full submission here) and Directive on Automated Decisionmaking (full submission here).
Coalition for Responsible AI
The Coalition for Responsible AI was an initiative by AIGS during the 2025 federal election to expand the conversation on AI to the broader public, and to push Canada’s elected leaders to take strong action to defend the public interest.
It is currently on pause as AIGS prioritises other projects, but we are open to partnering with other organisations to relaunch it. This is still essential and timely work.
